‘All Good Work Is Done The Way Ants Do Things, Little By Little’ borrows its title from Lafcadio Hearn. This durational piece examines the societal notions towards the anomalies of the skin and body at large. The work collects itself through cathartic and labour intensive gestures of pinning fish scales, certain found and collected organic materials like rose petals, dry stems, personal hair and pins. These materials visually create a metaphoric language of stillness and absurdity. The formulations in the work lean heavily on the process of building, observing time in slowness and observations made across different meat markets of Surat, Gujarat, India.
