Intersections of/ within Fish Market
Site: Mina Zayed Fish Market, Abu Dhabi, UAE
As part of my ongoing research, reading the interfaces of market as a space and looking at Meat as a transnational object – I intend on creating a sharing space through a workshop particularly for the people working in Fish market. Through this workshop the participants will be encouraged to think about the sound, smell and architecture of the market through prompts and reflecting on their own memory and bodily experiences. The prompts shall push the participants to respond either through sharing verbally (in their comfortable language) or by writing their thoughts. Within this workshop participants will be invited to create their own assemblages from the goods, objects and materials presented as part of the tablespace, reiterating the ways they look at meat. The workshop and sharing will take place in Hindi, Malayalam, Arabic and English.
The workshop is generously supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism and facilitated by MODON and Abu Dhabi Fishing Co-operative Society.
